Lido said its developers are investigating an anomaly in stETH’s latest rebase after the protocol’s accounting oracle reported an annualized yield of 2.04%, below the expected 2.15%. The staking protocol said the gap was not caused by validator slashing. Instead, it traced the issue to 32 ETH from validator deposits that were still pending confirmation and were not included in the oracle’s accounting. Lido added that engineers repeatedly checked the total balance of all Lido validators on Ethereum’s consensus layer, both at the time of the oracle report and afterward, and found no signs that any assets were at risk. The team said users do not need to take any action. Lido is still reviewing the root cause of the issue. Once a fix is deployed, the next rebase will include the assets that were undercounted this time. The protocol also said it will release a full incident report after identifying the underlying trigger.

Lido said its development team is investigating an anomaly tied to stETH’s latest rebase, which was reported by the protocol’s accounting oracle.

The rebase showed an annualized yield of 2.04%, versus an expected 2.15%. According to Lido, the discrepancy was not caused by validator slashing. The issue stemmed from 32 ETH in validator stake deposits that were still pending confirmation and were not included in the oracle’s accounting.

Lido said developers repeatedly checked the total balance of all Lido validators on Ethereum’s consensus layer, both at the time of the oracle broadcast and afterward, and found no indication that any assets were at risk. Users do not need to take any action, the team said.

The team is still examining the root cause. After a fix goes live, the next rebase will include the assets that were undercounted in this round. Lido said it will publish a full report once the underlying trigger has been identified.
