Lobster.cash, the AI agent payment platform from Crossmint, has integrated Mastercard Agent Pay and Verifiable Intent, enabling AI agents to charge purchases directly to existing Mastercard accounts without exposing card credentials. The integration targets the Openclaw ecosystem, which has deployed over one million agents across more than 20 messaging platforms.
Openclaw's Million-Agent Network Gains Card-Rail Access
Through the partnership, Openclaw users can authorize AI agents to spend on their behalf. Each transaction runs through Mastercard's network under issuer controls, giving card issuers full visibility into agent purchases. Lobster.cash leverages Basis Theory as a credential layer to keep payment data off agent infrastructure entirely.
Verifiable Intent Framework Adds Cryptographic Audit Trail
Mastercard's Verifiable Intent framework, co-developed with Google, produces cryptographic records confirming user authorization for specific transactions within defined limits. Those records can be independently verified after the fact by issuers, merchants, and platforms. The framework aligns with the Agent Payments Protocol and Universal Commerce Protocol, ensuring cross-protocol flexibility as agentic platforms multiply.
Crossmint Backed by Ribbit Capital, Serves 40K+ Clients
Lobster.cash already supports agents on Claude Code, Devin, Hermes, and Zo Computer. Crossmint is backed by Ribbit Capital and Franklin Templeton, serving over 40,000 clients. Mastercard Agent Pay is already deployed at Santander, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, DBS, and UOB. Bringing it into Lobster.cash extends card-network controls to open agent platforms. Built on Solana, Lobster.cash uses stablecoins and traditional card rails, with partners including Circle, Visa, Basis Theory, and Stytch. Users gain programmable control over agent spending limits by merchant, amount, and payment method.
The companies plan an early access program before rolling out to the full Openclaw ecosystem and additional agent platforms. As agentic commerce moves into production, accountability shifts from agent developers to the card network itself through this integration.
