Crypto prime brokerage firm LTP has obtained an Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) from the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, clearing the way to offer wholesale clients financial product advice, dealing services, and execution and arranging capabilities. The authorization covers securities, managed investment schemes, and deposit and payment products — giving LTP a regulated on-ramp to tokenized asset markets.
Tokenized Real-World Assets Move Into Regulated Territory
LTP's license is not an isolated milestone. Tokenized real-world assets (RWAs) are migrating from crypto-native experiments toward compliant financial infrastructure, with BlackRock, Franklin Templeton, JPMorgan, HSBC, Citi, and Goldman Sachs already building tokenized products. Simultaneously, global regulators are increasingly bringing digital assets inside existing financial frameworks rather than leaving them outside the system.
Jack Yang, founder and CEO of LTP, said: “The acquisition of the AFSL is a foundational pillar of LTP's vision to construct a seamless, regulated bridge between traditional capital markets and digital asset ecosystems. We believe that the future of finance lies in the tokenization of financial instruments. Maintaining strict regulatory alignment is not just a requirement, but a core competitive advantage as we scale our institutional-grade liquidity and RWA infrastructure globally.”
Australia is emerging as a key battleground for tokenized finance. Local regulators are actively positioning the country as a jurisdiction capable of supporting digital asset infrastructure, tokenized investment products, and regulated crypto services. Financial hubs worldwide are competing fiercely over tokenization, digital securities, stablecoin infrastructure, and cross-border settlement systems.
Prime Brokers Expand Beyond Crypto Trading
The AFSL also signals a broader strategic shift among digital asset prime brokers. Firms that initially focused on crypto trading and liquidity are expanding into institutional custody, asset management, OTC markets, tokenized securities, regulated financial services, and cross-border settlement — mirroring the evolution of traditional prime brokerage.
LTP's current service suite includes trade execution, clearing, settlement, custody, financing, institutional asset management, and regulated OTC trading. The firm now holds licenses or registrations across Hong Kong, Australia, the United Arab Emirates, the British Virgin Islands, and Spain.
The real battle is no longer about whether tokenization will become mainstream finance, but which firms control the infrastructure, liquidity, and regulatory access behind that shift. Regulatory licensing itself is becoming one of the most valuable competitive advantages in the industry.
