This marks the 51st global version licensed by Sony Pictures Television and the first official Shark Tank landing in Taiwan. Machi's roles span hip-hop, entertainment management, live streaming, and crypto — making him the most Web3-colored shark on the show.
From L.A. Boyz to a Live-Streaming Empire
Born in 1972 in Yunlin, Taiwan, Machi moved to California at age 2. In 1991, he formed L.A. Boyz with his brother Stanley Huang and cousin J.W. Lin. Over 13 years, the group dropped 13 albums; their debut Shiam sold over 130,000 copies, pioneering hip-hop in Taiwan. In 2001, he founded Machi Entertainment, managing stars like Jay Chou, A-Mei, and Jolin Tsai. 2015 saw him pivot to tech with 17 Live (later merged with Singapore's Paktor into M17 Entertainment), one of Asia's largest streaming platforms. Machi entered crypto aggressively in 2017. He co-founded DeFi lending protocol CREAM Finance and social token platform Mithril (MITH).
