With the countdown to the 2026 World Cup underway, the sports collectibles market is warming up alongside prediction markets. For the trading card industry, the World Cup is not just a sporting event — it is a concentrated moment when trading sentiment around rookie cards, limited editions, and sports memorabilia fully unleashes. In the Web2 world, sports cards, Pokémon cards, and various collectible cards have already formed an ecosystem with trading and collecting volumes in the tens of billions of dollars.

Recently, MarketCards has been working to bring these real-world collectible assets onto the blockchain, allowing rare cards to be not only displayed and collected but also subscribed to, traded, and priced on-chain. On June 4, MarketCards announced the launch of its first MintBox subscription event — an on-chain asset debut centred around rare physical cards. The platform will issue 100% of the tokenized rights corresponding to 68 rare player cards it purchased directly, open to all participants.

World Cup Fever Fuels Onchain Card Adoption

MarketCards is an on-chain asset platform designed for real-world collectible cards, with a core focus on tokenizing physical collections such as sports cards and rare cards. Historically, these card assets have circulated mainly within offline collecting circles or Web2 trading platforms, subject to limited trading reach, fragmented pricing, and insufficient liquidity. MarketCards seeks to bring real card assets into a more transparent and liquid on-chain trading system through on-chain ownership verification, public issuance, and secondary market trading.

MintBox is the Tokenized Interest initial public offering mechanism introduced by MarketCards. When a single card or a set of cards is tokenized on the platform, it is opened for subscription to all users through MintBox, with the corresponding interests distributed according to publicly verifiable rules. Currently, the MintBox subscription event has exceeded 70% of its target, with total sold ticket value surpassing $210,000.

How to Participate in the MintBox Subscription

The participation process is as follows: first, visit the MarketCards official website (https://market.cards/home) and click “Log in” in the top right corner to sign in using a Web3 wallet. Next, deposit USDC on the Base network into your account. Once the funds are credited, click “VIEW MINTBOX DETAIL” to enter the first MintBox subscription page, then input the number of Tickets you wish to purchase. Each Ticket is priced at 10 USDC.

The 68 1:1 rare cards featured in this subscription are rare player cards directly procured by the platform. Users can view the details at the showcase link: https://market.cards/ipo/detail?campaign_id=24.

Winning Rules and Ranking Mechanism

For every 10 USDC spent, the user receives one Ticket, each assigned a randomly generated 4-digit numeric code along with a recorded generation time. After the subscription ends, the platform takes the Binance BTC/USDC spot price at 00:00 UTC on June 8, keeps two decimal places, and sequentially extracts the tens digit, units digit, first decimal digit, and second decimal digit to form a 4-digit Draw Factor. For example, if the BTC price at that time is 77,795.60, the Draw Factor would be 9560.

Users’ Ticket numbers are then matched against the Draw Factor digit by digit; a match is only counted when the digits in the exact same position are identical. More successful matches correspond to a higher tier. For instance, with a Draw Factor of 9560, a Ticket number of 3560 would count as a 3/4 match. Ranking is determined first by the number of matched digits (4/4 > 3/4 > 2/4 > 1/4 > 0/4), and within the same group, by the time of purchase — the earlier, the higher the rank. A total of 30,000 Boxes are available in this round. Tickets ranked 1st through 30,000th receive the corresponding Box in sequential order: 1st place gets Box #1, 2nd place gets Box #2, and so on. Tickets ranked beyond 30,000 are considered unsuccessful, and the corresponding subscription amount can be manually reclaimed by the user after the results are announced.

Invitation Mechanism and Lucky Digit

MintBox also features a Lucky Digit mechanism. Each time a user successfully invites a friend who participates in this round and subscribes for at least 100 USDC, the inviter earns one Lucky Digit, with a maximum of three Lucky Digits per Ticket. When a digit is upgraded to a Lucky Digit, it no longer needs to be matched — any digit from 0 to 9 counts as a hit. Lucky Digits are assigned to the inviter only and are filled in sequence based on the Ticket generation order. The unlocking order is fixed as the 1st digit, 2nd digit, and 3rd digit, with the 4th digit permanently remaining as a precise matching position.
