Mastercard announced on March 11 the launch of its Crypto Partner Program, a global initiative that brings together more than 85 crypto-native enterprises and financial institutions. The program aims to integrate blockchain innovation into everyday commerce, driving compliant and scalable on-chain payment adoption.

85+ Members Targeting Cross-Border and B2B Payments

Mastercard noted that digital assets have entered a new phase — no longer operating in parallel to traditional finance, they are increasingly used for real-world needs such as cross-border remittances, B2B fund transfers, corporate settlements, and disbursements. The program assembles crypto-native firms, payment providers, and traditional financial institutions, offering a forum for deep dialogue and collaboration while maintaining consistent industry standards and responsible growth.

Bridging Blockchain Speed With Card Networks

Mastercard's EVP of Digital Assets & Blockchain Products Raj Dhamodharan and EVP of Digital Commercialization Sherri Haymond emphasized that the next phase of on-chain payments must be built on collaboration. Through the program, participating companies work directly with Mastercard teams to co-design future products. The core focus is execution — combining blockchain's speed and programmability with Mastercard's global card network and commercial payment flows, turning them into compliant use cases that operate across markets and integrate seamlessly into daily commerce.

Continuing a Long-Term Digital Asset Strategy

This is not Mastercard's first move into crypto. The new program builds on years of commitment to the digital asset ecosystem, including the Start Path incubation program focused on blockchain and digital assets, and the Engage platform that covers dedicated crypto card projects. Mastercard reiterated that as digital asset technology matures, it will continue to focus on building trust, setting standards, and connecting different systems at scale, ensuring future innovations work perfectly with existing infrastructure.
