Michael Saylor has dropped another hint that Strategy could be preparing a fresh Bitcoin purchase. Just over a week after the company disclosed a $1.25 billion acquisition of 13,627 BTC, the Strategy chairman posted “Bigger Orange” on X on Sunday, alongside a StrategyTracker chart showing past additions to the firm’s Bitcoin reserve.
Orange has long been used as a visual shorthand for Bitcoin in Saylor’s posts, and traders often read these messages as early signals of a coming announcement. That reading is based on precedent: Strategy has confirmed new Bitcoin buys several times after similar teasers in the past. This time, Saylor did not disclose a timeline or size, but the post was widely seen as pointing to another purchase.
Strategy has added nearly 15,000 BTC in 2026
Strategy has kept up its aggressive buying pace in 2026. On Jan. 4, the company bought 1,283 BTC for $115.97 million. It followed that with a much larger purchase on Jan. 11, adding 13,627 BTC for $1.25 billion.
According to the source material, Strategy’s average acquisition price now stands at $75,353 per coin. Its total holdings have reached 687,410 BTC, equal to about 3.27% of Bitcoin’s maximum supply of 21 million coins. Since the start of 2026 alone, the company has added nearly 15,000 BTC.
Stock weakness has clouded the Bitcoin accumulation story
The buying spree has not translated into stronger share performance. As of the close on Jan. 16, Strategy stock was at $173.71, down more than 52% over the past 12 months. Investor concern grew in the final quarter of 2025 as the company kept selling short-term debt through convertible notes to fund its Bitcoin strategy.
In late December, Strategy briefly paused purchases and issued new equity to strengthen its cash position. Around the same period, MSCI said it could exclude companies like Strategy from its indexes because of their heavy Bitcoin exposure, though that plan was later dropped. Those developments helped sentiment recover and lifted the stock away from its year-to-date low of $150, which crypto.news said analysts viewed as a key support level.
Bitcoin remains below six figures
Bitcoin has yet to reclaim the six-figure price level, leaving Strategy exposed to ongoing market swings. The source notes that Saylor has repeatedly said the company can withstand volatility if needed.
For now, the immediate question is whether Strategy will soon confirm another buy. Saylor’s latest post offered no specifics, but the pattern between his public hints and later company disclosures has drawn close attention from Bitcoin watchers.
