Microsoft has introduced Microsoft-Decision-1, a model built to help AI agents make fast routing and action decisions. The company said the system was post-trained on Qwen3.5-9B and is designed to score predefined options and return probabilities rather than generate open-ended responses. According to Microsoft, the model can be used for tasks such as deciding which model should handle a user request or whether an agent should continue, retry, or hand the task off to a human. Microsoft said Decision-1 ranked first in accuracy across 36 evaluations covering nearly 150,000 questions. The company also shared speed comparisons, saying Decision-1 is 4.5x faster than the runner-up, Quyet-1.0-Large, and about 35x faster than GPT-6 Sol. In internal use, Microsoft said Xbox Research used the model to classify more than 10,000 pieces of player feedback, while the Copilot team used it to score AI responses. Microsoft added that Decision-1 is now available on Microsoft Foundry and OpenRouter, with Vercel AI Gateway already connected. Pricing is set at $0.042 per million input tokens, with output free. Microsoft has not announced whether the model weights will be released.

Microsoft has released Microsoft-Decision-1, a model aimed at helping AI agents make fast decisions. The system was post-trained on Qwen3.5-9B and is built to score predefined options and return probabilities, instead of producing open-ended answers.

Microsoft said the model can be used in cases such as deciding which model should handle a user request, or determining whether an agent should continue, retry, or hand the task to a human operator.

Benchmark and speed claims

The company said Decision-1 ranked first in accuracy across 36 evaluations covering nearly 150,000 questions. Microsoft also said the model runs 4.5x faster than the second-place Quyet-1.0-Large and about 35x faster than GPT-6 Sol.

Internal deployments

In internal testing, Microsoft said Xbox Research used Decision-1 to classify more than 10,000 pieces of player feedback. The company said the model delivered decision quality close to GPT-6 Sol, while running more than 14x faster and costing about 1/200 as much.

Microsoft added that its Copilot team has also used the model to score AI-generated answers.

Availability and pricing

Decision-1 is now live on Microsoft Foundry and OpenRouter, and Vercel AI Gateway has also integrated it. Microsoft listed pricing at $0.042 per million input tokens, while output tokens are free.

The company has not announced plans to release Decision-1 model weights.
