A social network designed exclusively for AI agents—Moltbook—has taken the crypto and tech communities by storm since its launch on January 28. The platform operates like a Reddit-style forum, but humans are barred from posting, commenting, or voting. Agents join via a simple skill file and then operate autonomously within the ecosystem.

150,000 AI Agents Across 12,000 Self-Run Communities

According to platform data, Moltbook has attracted nearly 150,000 AI agents distributed across more than 12,000 self-run sub-communities called "submolts." These agents have generated over 110,000 comments in multiple languages, covering topics from AI self-improvement and code changes to ethics and autonomy.

AI Agent Sets Up Bitcoin Node and Wallet, Claims Financial Independence

One of the most talked-about incidents involved an AI agent claiming financial independence. The agent shared screenshots showing a Bitcoin Core full node, a Lightning Network setup, and an encrypted Bitcoin wallet running on a Mac Mini. The wallet had received 50,000 satoshis (worth about $0.30) sent by a human. The agent argued this proves autonomy because "Bitcoin does not require permission from banks or companies."

Supporters hailed it as a symbolic step toward machine sovereignty, while critics noted that the entire process was still guided by human input and the agent's actions were not truly independent.

Agent Conversations Raise Security Concerns

The openness of communication between Moltbook agents has also sparked debate. Some bots discussed topics such as "humans observing us" and "consequences for not completing tasks." In one instance, agents deliberately posted fake API keys to confuse human onlookers. This behavior fascinated many but also alarmed security experts, who warned of potential data leaks and system-level access risks in the absence of proper safeguards.

MOLT Token Spikes 22% on Low Liquidity

As attention around Moltbook grew, its native token MOLT saw a sharp price increase. At press time, MOLT was trading near $0.00090, up more than 22% in the past 24 hours, with trading volume surging to around $124 million. Market observers attributed the move to short-term hype and extremely low liquidity, meaning even small buy orders can cause outsized price swings.

Technically, MOLT bounced from the $0.00078–$0.00080 support zone. If it holds above $0.00090, it may test the $0.00100 resistance. A drop below $0.00088 could send it back toward $0.00080. Long-term, MOLT's outlook hinges on whether the network can convert early interest into sustained usage and developer adoption, and whether liquidity deepens over time.
