Monero (XMR) extended its rally on Jan. 13, briefly reaching $692 before trading around $661 at about 12:10 p.m. Eastern. At that level, XMR was up 12.5% on the day and 50.5% over the previous seven days. Among the top ten privacy coins by market capitalization, nearly every token was in positive territory, with zcash (ZEC) and mimblewimblecoin (MWC) standing out as the exceptions.
Monero stays at the center of the privacy coin move
XMR, the largest privacy-focused cryptocurrency by market value, continued to lead the sector as buying momentum pushed it to a new all-time price high. The report said Monero was also just one spot away from entering the top ten crypto assets by market cap. Price action across the sector was broadly positive, with several names posting gains both intraday and over the past week.
ZEC weakens as most peers move higher
ZEC changed hands at $390, down 3.3% on the day and 24.2% over the seven-day stretch. That marked a sharp reversal from a few weeks earlier, when it had been the best-performing privacy coin. MWC slipped 0.3% by midday, though it still held a weekly gain of about 1%.
Elsewhere, Dash (DASH) jumped 47.8% on Tuesday and was up 24.1% for the week, trading at $56.52. Beldex (BDX) added 1.3% on the day and 0.3% over the week. Decred (DCR) rose 20% on the session and 11% across seven days. Horizen (ZEN) climbed 12.3% daily and 5.7% weekly, while Zano (ZANO) gained 17.6% on the day and 5.5% for the week. Verge (XVG) advanced 17.1% and recorded an 18% weekly increase.
ARRR posts the biggest move in the group
Pirate Chain (ARRR) delivered the strongest performance in the segment, soaring 59.4% on the day and about 124.9% over the week. It traded as high as $0.5637 by Tuesday afternoon. The broader board remained mostly positive, with ZEC the main name moving against the prevailing trend.
The latest session showed strong demand for privacy-focused assets, even as leadership shifted within the group. Monero remained the headline performer on market-cap terms, while ARRR produced the sharpest short-term price expansion.
