MoonPay has integrated Solana lending protocol Kamino into its AI payments vault, PayBox, allowing eligible users to carry out token lending or collateralized borrowing on Solana by chatting with ChatGPT or Claude. The company did not launch a new lending product; instead, the integration replaces Kamino’s standard interface with natural-language instructions. Users can require passkey approval for every transaction or let AI act within preset limits. According to DefiLlama, Kamino has about $1.3 billion in total value locked and roughly $1 billion in active loans. MoonPay launched PayBox in July with support for payments, token swaps, cross-chain bridging, and yield access through Aave. By adding Kamino, PayBox is moving beyond AI payments into credit management. The setup also gives AI agents authority to manage user funds, meaning a single instruction can open a leveraged position, which may be liquidated if falling collateral value hits Kamino’s liquidation threshold. The service is not currently available to users in the U.S., UK, EU, or Australia.

Natural-language access to Kamino
The integration does not create a new lending product. Instead, it replaces Kamino’s original interface with natural-language commands. Users can choose to require passkey approval for every transaction, or allow AI to operate within preset limits.
Kamino’s scale and PayBox’s earlier feature set
According to DefiLlama, Kamino has about $1.3 billion in total value locked and roughly $1 billion in active loans.
MoonPay launched PayBox in July. At launch, it supported payments, token swaps, cross-chain bridging, and yield generation through Aave. With Kamino now added, PayBox is extending from an AI payments tool into credit management.
AI-managed funds also introduce liquidation risk
So far, crypto applications built around AI agents have largely focused on small-ticket, high-frequency payments. Coinbase’s x402 protocol has already processed about $50 million across 165 million payments.
This integration allows AI to manage user funds. A single instruction can open a leveraged position, and that position may be liquidated if the value of the collateral drops enough to trigger Kamino’s liquidation threshold.
Availability by jurisdiction
The service is not currently open to users in the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union, or Australia. Availability also varies by asset and jurisdiction.
