Movement, the Ethereum Layer-2 project that drew controversy shortly after its launch last year, is undergoing a major strategic transformation. Torab Torabi, the new CEO of Move Industries, has stated that Movement has repositioned itself as a fully independent Layer-1 blockchain, with the core mission of becoming a stablecoin settlement infrastructure tailored for emerging markets. This shift means Movement will no longer operate as a scaling solution on Ethereum but will build its own consensus and validator network to underpin large-scale stablecoin issuance, circulation, and cross-border clearing.
On Tuesday, Move Industries revealed that over the past several months, it has collaborated with regulated money transfer operators and electronic money institutions to gain access to a compliant payment network covering the United States, Canada, and the European Union. This landmark achievement removes key compliance barriers for Movement’s stablecoin payment and cross-border settlement services, allowing the network to seamlessly bridge traditional finance with on-chain capital flows within a regulated framework, thereby catering to the demand for low-cost international remittances and commercial settlements in emerging markets.
Compliant Payment Network and Diverse Ecosystem Partnerships
According to the official announcement, Movement has already partnered with stablecoin issuer Circle to enable native support for major stablecoins like USDC on its network. Additionally, wallet projects KAST and Sorted, as well as tokenization platforms Oro, Yuzu Money, and Zoth, have joined its ecosystem. These collaborations cover critical links ranging from stablecoin custody and transfers to asset tokenization, laying the foundational payment and financial services network for Movement.
Deepening RWA and On-Chain Yield Applications
Furthermore, Avant Protocol has chosen Movement Network as the infrastructure platform for its yield and treasury management products. This integration will extend Movement’s use cases from payments to include stablecoin yield aggregation and fund management within the real-world asset (RWA) space, signaling the network’s accelerated evolution from a pure payment rail to a comprehensive on-chain financial services platform.
