mb.io, the digital asset arm of MultiBank Group, has entered an institutional partnership with Kings Orbis, EON3 Group Ghana Ltd, and Mavryk to launch an institutional-grade tokenization program for physically-backed gold sourced from West Africa. The program will be delivered through mb.io RWA, a regulated marketplace for tokenized real-world assets, with each token representing direct ownership of gold held in Dubai under LBMA-approved custody.
Four-way architecture: from supply to secondary trading
Under the structure, mb.io RWA acts as the regulated tokenization marketplace; Kings Orbis coordinates the program; EON3 Group provides dedicated institutional gold supply; and Mavryk serves as the Layer 1 blockchain and RWA tech infrastructure partner. The partnership was announced during the World Peace Summit in Kumasi, Ghana, where senior representatives had a private audience with His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene King of the Ashanti Kingdom, who personally endorsed the initiative.
From Gold Coast to digital gold: cultural heritage on-chain
The Ashanti Kingdom, historically known as the Gold Coast, has produced gold for over 700 years. This project brings Ashanti gold to global investors in a digitally native, fractionally tradeable form for the first time. In addition to bullion-grade gold, the partnership will also tokenize a curated collection of Gold Art — physical artworks crafted from or inspired by Ashanti gold, honoring the cultural legacy of the Asantehene and the Pillars of Peace movement.
Each token unit-backed, independently audited throughout lifecycle
The core principle: every token in circulation must be backed by an independently verified physical asset. Oversight covers sourcing, refining, vaulting, tokenization, and secondary trading. The gold is stored in LBMA-approved vaults in Dubai. Self-custodial wallets and on-chain compliance tools are built into the mb.io RWA platform from day one.
Tech stack: Mavryk Layer 1 built for RWA
Mavryk provides the technical foundation for issuing, settling, and trading tokenized gold at institutional scale. Its infrastructure includes compliance hooks, lifecycle controls, and interoperability features required by regulated programs. Mavryk has been integrated as the dedicated Layer 1 across all mb.io RWA initiatives.
Regulated by VARA, targeting multiple asset classes
mb.io is licensed by Dubai's Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) and operates a regulated crypto exchange alongside the RWA marketplace. The African gold program is one of the largest active projects on mb.io RWA. The platform is designed to support institutional-grade tokenization across multiple asset classes in the future.
