The Incident
On September 5, on-chain analytics firm Arkham said Elon Musk seems to have accidentally replied to a hacked X account, formerly Twitter. The account was @shivon. While it was compromised, it published two messages about the SLINK project. Musk answered with a "100 score" emoji. That was enough to set off market speculation that he was backing the token.
For a moment, SLINK's market capitalization jumped past $40 million. Then it fell apart, dropping to near zero. The posts on @shivon have since been deleted, and the account is believed to have been hacked.
Trader's Loss
Trader Aurelius0121 said he noticed Musk interacting with the @shivon account and took that as a sign Musk was backing a project tied to his romantic partner. So he bought about $250,000 worth of SLINK tokens. Then the price cratered to zero. His entire position was wiped out.
Background of the Account Owner
Shivon Zilis, the person behind the @shivon account, is a Canadian tech executive and venture capitalist. She is currently the Director of Operations and Special Projects at Neuralink, Musk's brain-computer interface company. And she is also the mother of several of Musk's children.
