Elon Musk responded to a community question about when China would reach Fable-level AI, saying it could be “Q1.” The exchange followed comments from X user Teortaxes on GLM 5.2, Opus 4.7-4.8, Mythos, and the expected Fable timeline.

According to TechFlow, Elon Musk responded on June 18 to a community question on X asking when China would reach Fable-level AI. Musk’s answer was brief: “Probably Q1.” The reply did not include additional technical details or a longer explanation, but it directly addressed the timing question raised by the community.

Teortaxes’ comments on GLM 5.2 and Mythos

The discussion followed an earlier post by X user Teortaxes, who said GLM 5.2 currently appears to be about seven months behind frontier models. Teortaxes described the model as broadly being around the Opus 4.7 to 4.8 level, placing GLM 5.2 within a comparative timeline against leading AI models.

Teortaxes also said Mythos had reached Preview status in early February 2026. In the same description, the complete PRC Mythos, referred to as “Fable,” was placed on a launch timeline of November to December 2026. Musk’s “Q1” response therefore became part of the same discussion around China’s progress toward a Fable-level AI system and the 2026 milestones mentioned in the earlier post.
