According to TechFlow, on June 18, Elon Musk replied to a community question on X about when China would reach Fable-level AI, saying: “Probably Q1.”

Earlier, X user Teortaxes posted analysis showing that GLM 5.2 currently trails frontier models by about 7 months, roughly at Opus 4.7-4.8 level; Mythos reached Preview status in early February 2026, and the full PRC Mythos (“Fable”) may launch between November and December 2026. Musk’s brief response suggests he is optimistic about China’s AI development pace, implying the Fable-level model could arrive earlier than Teortaxes’ timeline.
