ChainCatcher reported that privacy blockchain Namada has officially announced a vulnerability incident. The Namada team said it is currently investigating the issue and has contacted relevant parties to coordinate on handling the matter. The project also stated that if the operator behind the attack is a white hat hacker, it hopes that person will contact the team directly so the vulnerability can be better understood and resolved.

The disclosure focuses on two points: the vulnerability response and the movement of related funds on-chain. In the reported statement, Namada did not release details about the nature of the vulnerability, the method used in the incident, or a timetable for resolution. It confirmed only that the team is investigating and working with related parties. For a white hat scenario, the project’s stated goal is to establish communication and gather further information about the issue.
On-chain data shows that some ATOM assets connected to the incident were suspected to have been transferred through IBC, the Inter-Blockchain Communication protocol, to an address on the Cosmos Hub network. About 228,517 ATOM at that address was then cleared out within several hours through IBC transfers and multiple outbound transactions. At present, only a small remaining balance is left at the address.
