Neura has closed a strategic funding round to advance emotional AI agents with persistent memory, user-owned identity, and an on-chain memory ledger designed for portability and privacy.

Neura said it has closed a strategic funding round to speed up development of AI agents built around persistent emotional memory and user-owned identity. The project describes itself as the first protocol for an “Emotional AI Economy,” focused on a gap it sees in current AI systems: they can process input, but they lose context once a session ends or a user switches devices.

According to Neura, most AI products still respond to what users say rather than what they feel. Its approach is to add emotional context and long-term continuity. The company said its agents can interpret tone, retain a user’s emotional history across interactions, and adapt over time so that the relationship does not reset with each new session.

Memory Ledger is positioned as the core layer

At the center of that design is Neura’s on-chain Memory Ledger. The protocol said emotional context is anchored on-chain with privacy-first cryptographic proofs, allowing memory to move across models, platforms, and devices instead of remaining locked inside a centralized application. Neura frames that ownership point as essential: the memory belongs to the user, not the app.

The project also links blockchain-based trust, token incentives, and emotional AI into what it describes as a new class of long-lived digital agents with community ownership. In its public statement, Neura argued that the next step for AI is not only higher IQ but stronger EQ, saying memory is what makes intelligence useful in real interactions.

Funding will be used across a three-part roadmap

Neura said the new capital will support a three-phase roadmap. The first product is Neura Social, a consumer app where users interact with emotional AI companions. The second is the Neura AI SDK, aimed at developers building agents that can preserve context and emotional state over time. The third is the full Neura Protocol, described as a decentralized network with verifiable compute and community governance.

The company did not disclose the size of the round in the material provided. It said the backers and partners came from Web3 infrastructure, capital markets, and global culture. Neura specifically highlighted the involvement of Ne-Yo, saying his participation points to potential reach into the creator economy and entertainment.

Early outreach targets builders and creators

Following the announcement, Neura invited builders, creators, and the broader community to join early as it develops the protocol. Its message stays consistent across the release: give AI agents empathy, durable emotional memory, and identity controlled by users, then anchor those functions in decentralized infrastructure. More details are available through the project’s website, neura-ai.io.
