Digital asset wealth platform Nexo has expanded its partnership with the DP World Tour by launching a novel prize for golfers who set and hold a course record during a tournament. Known as the Course Record Presented by Nexo, the prize is a rolling incentive that rewards players with cryptocurrencies when they achieve the best score on a particular course and maintain that record until the event ends.
Prize Structure and Rollover Mechanism
The promotion begins with the inaugural Nexo Championship, scheduled for August 7–10, 2025, at the newly opened Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeen, Scotland. The first player to set the course record will receive a base prize of $10,000 in stablecoins. Additionally, Nexo offers $50,000 in NEXO tokens if the player also breaks the championship record for a single round.
If no course record is set at the Nexo Championship, the prize pool rolls over to the next eligible DP World Tour event, increasing by $10,000 each time it rolls over. Once a record is broken, the prize resets to the base amount. According to Nexo, 10 course records were set on the DP World Tour in 2024, and six have already been established in 2025.
The prize fund will run until the conclusion of the season with the DP World Tour Championship, after which it resets for the following year. To qualify for the prize, tournaments must be played on a single course, complete at least 36 holes in case of weather delays, and rounds using preferred lies are explicitly excluded.
Executives’ Statements
Antoni Trenchev, Co-founder of Nexo, said: “The Course Record marks the first recurring prize of its kind in golf. It combines performance-driven incentives with the reach and upward potential of digital assets. This is a milestone in our shared vision with the DP World Tour for innovation in professional golf.”
Ben Cowen, Chief Tournament and Operations Officer of the DP World Tour, added: “We’re always looking for new ways to celebrate and reward the incredible talent on the Tour. The Course Record Presented by Nexo does just that—and adds excitement for fans as players push harder to claim the prize.”
Broader Partnership and Economic Impact
This initiative builds on Nexo’s expanding relationship with the DP World Tour. Last month, Nexo became an official marketing partner and the official digital wealth platform of the tour under a multi-year agreement running through 2027. The Nexo Championship follows a grand opening gala on July 29 hosted by the Trump family, attended by Nexo’s founders. The event is expected to boost Scotland’s golf tourism, which contributes more than $400 million annually to the local economy.
By combining real-world sports rewards with crypto assets, Nexo aims to drive adoption among golf enthusiasts and showcase the utility of digital assets in traditional sports sponsorships.
