Nexon has unveiled an AI Connector beta for the Korean server of Mabinogi Mobile, letting players hook up AI tools installed on their own PCs, including Claude Code, Cursor, Gemini CLI, Windsurf, Cline, Roo Code, Kiro and OpenCode. The feature was announced on Sept. 9 and is limited to the PC version during testing. Players can use AI through chat to check character stats, location, currency, inventory weight, quests, nearby NPCs and players, as well as material and sheet music lists. They can also delegate gathering, processing and crafting tasks to AI. Nexon said the game does not provide the AI itself. Any fees generated by those tools must be paid by players directly to the AI providers. The company also drew a hard line around what AI cannot do. Seven categories are excluded, including exchange listings and purchases, character growth-related autoplay, payments and cash shop functions, guild management, private messages, item disposal and dismantling, and integrations with external communication or social platforms. The company added two limits to AI delegation: movement performed by AI will consume the in-game item Spirit Wings, and any continuous delegated use lasting one hour requires player confirmation before it can continue. AI cannot log in for players, and any draft public-channel message must be reviewed and approved before posting. Nexon said the Korean launch date has not been announced, and there is no word yet on whether the Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau version will get the feature.

Nexon has announced an "AI Connector (Beta)" for the Korean server of Mabinogi Mobile, outlining a test feature that lets players connect AI tools installed on their own computers to the game. According to the Sept. 9 notice on the Korean official site, players will be able to use chat-style prompts to check in-game information or hand off gathering, processing and crafting tasks to AI. Nexon said the game itself does not provide the AI, and any costs generated by those tools must be paid by players directly to the AI providers.

The company said Mabinogi Mobile launched in South Korea in March 2025 and won the presidential prize at the Korean Game Awards in the same year. The Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau version went live on July 22 this year. For now, the AI Connector is only planned for the Korean server. Nexon has not disclosed a launch date, and it has not said whether the Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau version will follow.

Supported tools and PC-only testing phase

Nexon listed Claude Code, Cursor, Gemini CLI/Antigravity, Windsurf, Cline/Roo Code, Kiro and OpenCode as supported AI tools. It also said other tools using the same standard specification will work.

The notice did not identify that specification by name. It did note a shared trait across the listed tools: support for MCP, or Model Context Protocol, a general standard introduced by Anthropic to let AI call external programs.

The beta will be available only on PC during the testing period. Nexon said mobile devices currently face technical limits that make it difficult to connect AI tools in the same way as a PC, and the company will look for other approaches later.

Players can enable the feature in the game settings menu under the game tab. Once switched on, the client will automatically detect AI tools already installed on the computer and configure the connection method, with no separate download required. If no compatible AI tool is installed, turning on the switch will have no effect. The feature is off by default and can be disabled at any time.

What AI can do: ask questions and take delegated tasks

Nexon split the feature into two functions: "Ask" and "Delegate."

The Ask function can retrieve character status and attributes, current location, held currency and inventory weight. Players can also query quests, daily and weekly missions, nearby NPCs and players, and lists of materials and sheet music. The company gave examples such as asking how much currency the character currently has, what daily tasks remain for the day, or telling the AI to collect 20 pieces of wool.

The Delegate function is currently limited to gathering, processing and crafting. If a player specifies materials, the AI will move to the gathering location and continue until it reaches the target amount. For crafting, the AI will go to the required facility, complete the task and report the result. It can also check processing progress, collect finished items, play sheet music stored in the bag, switch instruments and stand up from a seated position.

Seven restricted categories remain off-limits

Nexon separately listed seven categories of actions that AI will not be allowed to perform:

  • Listing and buying on the exchange
  • Autoplay tied to character growth
  • Payments and cash shop functions
  • Guild management, including expulsions and appointments
  • One-to-one private messages
  • Discarding and dismantling items
  • Integration with external messaging software or social platforms

The company said actions that cannot be reversed, involve property, or directly affect other players must remain under the player's own judgment and control. It added that this principle will not change even if the feature is expanded later. Repetitive tasks such as gathering and crafting can be delegated, but progression and trading that are directly tied to combat power or in-game currency will remain in players' hands.

Two limits: Spirit Wings cost and one-hour confirmation

Nexon said the AI automation feature "should not become a tool that plays the game in place of the adventurer," and it described two restrictions.

The first is an item cost. When the AI moves the character to a gathering spot or facility, it will consume "Spirit Wings" in the same way that long-distance movement by a player would. Asking questions does not consume anything. Nexon said the exact amount of Spirit Wings required will be disclosed in a later update.

The second is an on-site confirmation requirement. After one continuous hour of delegated use, a confirmation prompt will appear, and the AI will only continue processing commands after the player approves it. Nexon said the measure is intended to stop the feature from running endlessly after a player leaves the seat, and to avoid disadvantaging players who remain at their screens.

AI cannot log in, and public messages must be approved

The notice said the AI Connector works only while the player is already logged into the game. It will not log in on the player's behalf.

The AI can draft a message for a public channel, but the text must be shown to the player before it is sent. It will only be posted after approval, and an AI icon will appear next to the character name. Nexon said other players should be able to tell whether they are interacting with a human player or not.

Names and chat records of other players will not be sent to AI tools

Nexon also described how player data will be handled. Players can query the status of nearby players, but character names chosen by users, guild names and chat exchanges with other players will not be transmitted to AI tools. Relationship data such as whether someone is in the same party or guild may be transmitted, but without names attached.

The company added that minors may need consent from a legal guardian to use the AI Connector, depending on the rules set by each AI provider. Nexon also said responsibility for AI use lies first with the player, and conduct that violates operating policies could lead to service restrictions.

FAQ says Claude Code use requires separate payment

In the FAQ, Nexon said using Claude Code with Mabinogi Mobile requires payment. The fee goes to the AI provider, not to Nexon. The notice said Claude Code is not included in a free plan and requires either a $20-per-month Pro subscription, a Max plan starting at $100 per month, or usage-based API billing.

On whether the Taiwan version of Mabinogi Mobile can use the AI Connector, the answer was no for now. Nexon described the feature as a PC beta announced for the Korean server on Sept. 9, 2026, with no launch date disclosed. The Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau version only launched on July 22, and the company has not said whether it will adopt the feature there.
