S&P Dow Jones Indices said Nike (NKE) will be removed from the S&P 100 before the U.S. market opens on Sept. 21, with the change taking effect as part of the index provider’s quarterly rebalancing. The move ends Nike’s nearly 18-year run in the S&P 100, where it has been included since 2008. The adjustment does not affect the company’s place in the broader S&P 500, where Nike will remain. Market data from BIT (Bit.com) showed that Nike closed at $38.10 on Sept. 8, down 0.78% on the day. At that level, the stock was down more than 50% from its 52-week high of $76.97. The update was reported by BlockBeats on Sept. 9.
