Event materials describe SMU as a leading Asian urban research university with interdisciplinary strengths in business management, economics, computer science, data intelligence, public policy, and the social sciences.
SMU faculty will join Nobel laureates and guests from the technology and industrial sectors for discussions on longevity, sustainable cities, and the ways AI is reshaping work, learning, and research. Five Nobel laureates listed for the event
The summit has named five Nobel laureates from economics, chemistry, physics, and life sciences:
- Sir Christopher Pissarides — Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences 2010
- Benjamin List — Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2021
- Sir Konstantin Novoselov — Nobel Prize in Physics 2010
- Fred Ramsdell — Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2025
- Omar M. Yaghi — Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2025
Beyond the laureates, the organizers said guests from government bodies, international scientific institutions, leading universities, and the global technology ecosystem will also take part in the forums, the Gala Dinner, and the exhibition opening.
Closed-door Gala Dinner scheduled for Oct. 5
Nobel Heroes & AI4SCI Gala Dinner will be held on the evening of Oct. 5 at Conrad Singapore Orchard and will be limited to invited guests.

The summit will also host a public Peter Badge AR portrait exhibition of Nobel laureates at Gardens by the Bay from Oct. 5 to Oct. 11.
According to the event materials, portrait photographer Peter Badge has been documenting Nobel laureates around the world since 2000. The project aims to move away from formal institutional portraiture and show scientists as people, including moments of focus in laboratories, reflection in studies, and personal scenes outside official settings.
The organizers added that Badge’s long-running Nobel portrait project has received support from international cultural institutions including the Deutsches Museum, the Smithsonian Institution, and the National Portrait Gallery in the United Kingdom.
This exhibition will incorporate AR interaction. Visitors will be able to use a mobile phone to enter a digital experience led by a virtual Peter Badge, who will guide them through the stories behind the portraits, the laureates’ scientific achievements, and their personal experiences.
On the morning of Oct. 6, participating Nobel laureates and other key guests are also scheduled to join the exhibition’s opening ceremony.
