Evercoin, a mobile-first noncustodial cryptocurrency wallet and exchange, announced today it has secured $1 million in pre-seed funding. The round was led by gumi Cryptos Capital and included prominent figures from the blockchain and open-source software world: Roger Ver, founder and executive chairman of Bitcoin.com; Ross Mason, founder of MuleSoft (acquired by Salesforce); Marc Fleury, founder and former CEO of JBoss (acquired by Red Hat); John Pigott, founder of ABE Exchange; and Eman Pulis, founder of the Malta Blockchain Summit.

Strategic Investor Lineup

Roger Ver, often called "Bitcoin Jesus," is one of the most vocal advocates for cryptocurrency. Ross Mason built MuleSoft into a leading integration platform before selling it for $6.5 billion. Marc Fleury pioneered open-source middleware with JBoss, which became a cornerstone of Red Hat's success. gumi Cryptos Capital is a venture firm focused on blockchain infrastructure and consumer applications. “We are proud to welcome a set of extremely strategic investors into our seed round,” said Talip Ozturk, founder and CEO of Evercoin. “These investors represent a tremendous range and depth of experience in open source software, Bitcoin, and regulatory issues for the cryptographic asset class.”

Product Features: True Self-Custody

Evercoin distinguishes itself by offering full self-custody: users control their private keys at all times. The platform supports secure key recovery without the company ever seeing or storing the keys. It currently enables trading of Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Ether (ETH), USD Coin (USDC), Litecoin (LTC), Ripple (XRP), Stellar (XLM), Cardano (ADA), Tron (TRX), Dash, Zcash, Ethereum Classic (ETC), Bitcoin Gold (BTG), Qtum, Decred, and Dogecoin (DOGE). Users in 10 U.S. states can also buy crypto directly with fiat currency via bank connection. The exchange offers instant swaps and noncustodial limit orders, meaning funds remain in the user’s wallet until the order executes.

Founder Background

Talip Ozturk is also the creator of Hazelcast, an open-source in-memory distributed database used by top financial institutions worldwide. “Having seen the power of open source at some of the largest banks, I was inspired to join the cryptocurrency movement, which combines open systems and distributed governance with large-scale financial infrastructure,” Ozturk said. His experience building high-performance, enterprise-grade software underpins Evercoin’s architecture.

Market Implications and Roadmap

Noncustodial wallets are gaining traction as users increasingly demand control over their assets amid exchange hacks and regulatory uncertainty. Evercoin aims to bridge the gap between user-friendly consumer apps like Coinbase and the security of self-managed wallets. Ray Zhang, Managing Director at gumi Cryptos Capital, commented: “Evercoin is the strongest product in the market for delivering those features without compromising on user custody, the most important issue for cryptographic assets.” The fresh capital will accelerate product development, expand geographic availability, and strengthen compliance capabilities.
