Nvidia says it has released a free, open-source tool called "Personal AI Router" (PAIR) that aims to turn idle computers on home or office networks into a personal AI data center.
Techub News reports that PAIR links up devices running Nvidia GeForce RTX 20-series or newer GPUs, RTX Pro GPUs, DGX Spark systems, or Apple M4 and later chips. Put those machines together, and they can split agent workflows and other local AI inference jobs, which lifts the use of local AI computing power.
PAIR is software, not a hardware router. Simple as that. It finds compatible devices on the network by itself and connects them so they can work as a group. The tool also supports widely used AI inference frameworks including Ollama and LM Studio, giving users a way to tap idle computing resources for local AI work.
Nvidia has made the tool available as open-source code and free to download. But PAIR is still early, and Nvidia has not disclosed exact system requirements or deployment details. For more, sources such as The Verge have more information.
