According to FinanceFeeds, the Tether-backed non-custodial crypto payment platform Oobit has launched its crypto card services in Guatemala and Paraguay. Local users can spend crypto assets at Visa-compatible online and offline merchants through wallets such as Phantom, MetaMask, Binance Wallet, and Trust Wallet, while merchants settle transactions in local fiat currency.
This expansion increases Oobit's Latin American coverage to 11 countries. As a non-custodial solution, Oobit does not hold users' assets; instead, transactions are signed on-chain directly from the user's wallet, offering a balance between payment convenience and asset sovereignty. Tether, as the primary backer, provides compliance and liquidity support for Oobit's operations in the region.
