OpenAI has introduced ChatGPT Images 2.5, a new image model, and added two API variants: GPT-Image-2.5 Flare and GPT-Image-2.5 Sunburst. The company said the new model can cut image generation latency by as much as 50% compared with Images 2.0, while improving detail sharpness, lighting and texture quality, fidelity to reference images, and multi-turn fine editing. On the ChatGPT side, OpenAI also rolled out Sketch support for hand-drawn references, template-based creation, image annotation, and shareable prompts. These tools are available for generating and editing images across desktop, mobile, and web. Flare is positioned for high quality with low latency, targeting frequent creative use and product experiences, while Sunburst is aimed at professional visual workflows that need higher editing precision.
