OpenAI has started a limited return of its $200-per-month ChatGPT Pro 20x plan, though the tier has not been reopened to everyone. Under the latest rules, only users who recently had Pro 20x may get a one-time chance to subscribe again. Regular new users, along with people trying to upgrade from other plans, remain unable to access the tier. More specifically, users who still had Pro 20x on Sept. 10, or whose subscriptions ended within the previous 30 days, may qualify. If a user canceled, had a renewal fail, or downgraded and wants to come back, the return window can stay open for up to 30 days and can only be used once. The main difference between Pro 20x and Plus remains usage limits, with Pro 20x offering 20 times the allowance of Plus. OpenAI paused the $200 plan on Sept. 10 after demand for Astra surged. At the time, Tibo Sottiaux, who oversees ChatGPT and Codex, said Astra demand was 「unprecedented」 and that Pro 20x placed the heaviest load on the system.
