OpenSea said its platform and smart contracts were not affected by the security incident involving Magic Eden and Limit Break, according to a statement posted on X by Chief Technology Officer Chris Maddern. The company said it is adding warning banners across its platform and linking users to approval revocation tools. Maddern also said OpenSea has already flagged known affected ERC-721 NFTs and prevented them from being sold on the marketplace. Any newly identified exploited NFTs will be automatically flagged as well, with the goal of limiting attackers’ ability to receive offers tied to those assets. As of the latest update, more than 3,000 NFTs have been marked as stolen and blocked from trading. OpenSea said it will keep working to reduce the impact of the broader industry security incident on users.
