More than 31 million XRP tokens were transferred to the cryptocurrency exchange Binance in a single day on July 10, according to data from analytics firm CryptoQuant. This substantial inflow has caught the attention of market participants.
Whales Lead the Movement
The majority of the transfers originated from large holders, or “whales”, who control between 100,000 and 1 million XRP each. Such concentrated deposits to exchanges are often interpreted as a preparatory move for selling, though they may also serve liquidity or over-the-counter transaction purposes. Analysts warn that persistent whale deposits could signal a shift in sentiment.
Market Shows Resilience
Despite the heavy influx, XRP’s price remained relatively stable, posting a modest 0.92% gain. Binance’s native token BNB also rose 1.59%. The muted reaction suggests the market had already priced in some degree of whale activity. However, traders remain cautious about potential short-term volatility if further large transfers follow.
Context of Whale Accumulation
Notably, prior reports indicated that XRP whales had accumulated 45.83 billion XRP over a longer period, eyeing a $1.50 price target. The recent shift toward exchange deposits may indicate a tactical rebalancing by major players. Investors are advised to monitor on-chain metrics for further clues on market direction.
