PANews has published its weekly curated roundup, gathering recent stories across AI, macro markets, institutional commentary, opportunity tracking and broader Web3 developments. The selection spans companies and protocols including Manus, Riot, Anthropic, Kalshi, Aptos, ENS DAO and Harmony.
AI-driven developments
One of the headline items was the reversal of the Manus-Meta acquisition. PANews said the deal was scrapped after a Ministry of Commerce ban, after which Manus returned to operating independently. The summary said Manus still has annual recurring revenue of $300 million, saw no employee departures, and that its founder described the moment as the start of a third entrepreneurial chapter.
Riot’s agreement with Anthropic was another major focus. PANews said Riot signed a $9.1 billion compute deal with Anthropic, a move it framed as further evidence that bitcoin mining companies are shifting toward AI data center and compute-leasing businesses. In that reading, the sector’s valuation framework is being reset.
Paradigm also appeared in the weekly selection after launching an RSI simulator designed to show the curve of recursive AI self-improvement. PANews said the tool illustrates the interaction among compute, labor and data, and ties into how crypto venture investors are thinking about frontier technology.
The publication also highlighted three forces shaping global markets this summer: AI leverage unwinds, U.S. Treasury yields at a 19-year high, and repeated swings around a Hormuz ceasefire. PANews described the combination as a three-way liquidity shock that could keep volatility elevated.
On security, PANews said large AI models are changing both attack and defense in crypto security. It added that an open-source Chinese model was used as an auditing tool and identified 85 severe vulnerabilities in 30 hours.
Macro market views
PANews’ roundup included several macro pieces. One argued that U.S. equities and gold have risen together while bitcoin has failed to join the rebound, even as ETF money returned. The article said several bottom-fishing indicators have turned positive and asked whether a cycle low may be getting closer.
Arthur Hayes warned that yen strength could force the Federal Reserve to quietly print through the FIMA repo facility, according to PANews’ summary of his view. In that scenario, dollar liquidity would expand again and bitcoin and gold would be among the main beneficiaries. PANews said Hayes has already built large positions in those assets.
JPMorgan’s global market strategy team, as cited by PANews, said commodities may be echoing the pattern seen in 2022. With expectations for a Fed rate hike brought forward to December, gold could face pressure while copper remains favored.
Hash Global took a more late-cycle view. PANews said the firm believes the bear market may be nearing its end, although AI-driven FOMO capital is still rotating and industry capital is still waiting for a possible final leg lower.
Institutional and investor commentary
In the institutional section, PANews highlighted an interview with Kalshi’s CEO. The summary said Kalshi has a 200-person team and annual trading volume of $178 billion, with sports contracts making up nearly two-thirds of activity. It also referenced a $22 billion valuation and touched on differences with Polymarket, links involving the Trump family, and Mark Zuckerberg’s entry.
Bitwise’s chief investment officer said bad news is no longer enough to shake bitcoin, according to PANews. In his view, institutions in the next bull market will focus more on large-cap tokens, while onchain capital keeps digging into the application layer. PANews said he pointed to model portfolios at wealth platforms including Morgan Stanley and Wells Fargo, arguing that even a 1% to 2% crypto allocation could translate into hundreds of billions of dollars in sustained inflows.
1confirmation’s contribution centered on contrarian startup building. PANews said the firm believes sectors such as NFTs, play-to-earn, the metaverse and DAOs failed earlier mostly because the timing was wrong, and that stronger infrastructure may reopen those categories.
Veteran investor Lao Bai argued that the only crypto business lines that have truly worked are stablecoins and perpetual futures. PANews said he also argued that issuing tokens is a liability and that crypto venture capital will disappear.
VanEck’s head of research, as summarized by PANews, said AI infrastructure is not a bubble, mainstream Layer 1 networks have disappointed institutions, and the CLARITY Act could trigger a token rebound. The view also pointed to a shift in market logic after June, following a highly concentrated first five months of the year.
Projects, trading and new opportunities
Tiger Research said about KRW 700 trillion has flowed out of South Korea and into overseas venues, according to PANews. The report tracked 120,000 wallets and said capital has moved into offshore exchanges and onchain services, while a window for capital to return may be nearing.
Fomo was presented as a standout bear-market case. PANews said the company, with a 17-person team, raised $94 million and used social trading products to establish itself as a new onchain entry point, forcing Pump.fun to compete more aggressively for users.
Aptos also drew attention for changes in token economics. PANews said token holder net income, or THNI, has turned positive after a 10x gas increase and a 50% cut in staking rewards, with network revenue rising 16x.
The weekly roundup also revisited the disconnect between protocol revenue and token performance. PANews framed the issue through four gates between protocol income and token holders, using that lens to explain why Hyperliquid rose 1400% while Pump fell 60%.
In perpetual DEXs, PANews said the phase of buying growth through token incentives and points-based airdrops may be fading. PopDEX, it added, is proposing a model with 100% value flowing back.
Web3 developments
ENS DAO passed its “Next Era” proposal this week. PANews said the measure includes setting up a legal foundation while keeping the treasury onchain and pairing it with timelock-based protections as part of a governance overhaul.
On shutdowns, PANews said more than 78 Web3 projects have closed since the start of 2025, consuming more than $900 million in funding. It cited lack of capital, weak demand and unsustainable models as the main reasons.
Harmony’s latest exploit was among the most closely watched security stories of the week. PANews said attackers abused a cross-shard receipt verification flaw to forge receipts at scale, illegally mint more than 3 trillion ONE tokens, and trigger a 38% drop in the token’s price.
Competition between South Korea’s major exchanges also resurfaced. PANews said Upbit and Bithumb have restarted a listing battle focused on existing capital pools and retail attention as the local equity market cooled.
A Coinmetrics report cited by PANews said stablecoin transfer volume has reached a record, but more than 90% of the activity does not reflect real payments and instead comes from flash loans and market makers. The same summary said USDC’s annual turnover rate reached 741 times, roughly 10 times that of USDT.
