Paraguayan authorities are investigating the death of Harry Chun Tak Yeh, also known as Harry Yeh, the founder and managing partner of Quantum Fintech Group, after he was found dead outside the Jade Park luxury apartment building in Asuncion’s Trinidad district. Local outlet La Tribuna reported the case on Aug. 7, identifying the victim as a Chinese man with ties to several crypto ventures. Police said the fall likely took place early Tuesday local time and that Yeh is believed to have fallen from the building’s 30th floor. Investigators found his body naked and covered with a black plastic bag. A 30th-floor apartment linked to him was later found with the door open and the interior in severe disarray, while forensic teams also collected evidence from another apartment tied to him on the 27th floor. His 29-year-old Brazilian girlfriend, who lived on a lower floor, told authorities she knew nothing about the incident. The homicide division and forensic technicians have handed evidence to prosecutors, who are examining several possibilities at once, including an accident, suspected suicide and homicide. No final official conclusion has been issued, and the body has been sent for autopsy. The report also revisits Yeh’s public profile in crypto, including his roles connected to Tomb Finance, Fantom and LIF3.

The victim was preliminarily identified as Yeh, whose social media handle is @harryyeh. He is publicly known as the founder and managing partner of Quantum Fintech Group.

Police say the fall likely happened early Tuesday

Police said the incident is believed to have taken place early Tuesday local time. Investigators’ initial assessment was that Yeh fell from the 30th floor of the building, described in the report as one of the tallest in the neighborhood.

His body was found naked and covered with a black plastic bag. Investigators later examined an apartment on the 30th floor linked to him and found the door open and the interior in severe disarray. Forensic teams also processed another apartment tied to him on the 27th floor of the same building.

The report said Yeh’s 29-year-old Brazilian girlfriend lived on a lower floor and told authorities she knew nothing about what had happened.

Prosecutors are considering several scenarios

Paraguay’s homicide unit and forensic technicians collected physical evidence and handed it to prosecutors. Prosecutors are examining multiple possibilities in parallel, including an accident, suspected suicide and homicide. Yeh’s body was transferred to the judicial morgue for an autopsy.

So far, authorities have not released a final conclusion.

Public profile and business background

According to his website, harryyeh.com, Yeh served as managing director of Quantum Fintech Group, an investment management firm focused on cryptocurrency, blockchain and digital assets. The site says the firm sought outsized returns for clients and partners.

The website also says Yeh founded and became a seed investor in LIF3 and L3 Reserve during his time operating the firm. LIF3 is described as a chain-agnostic DeFi ecosystem, while L3 Reserve is the issuer of L3USD, a product described as a variable-collateral stable asset.

His website says he had more than 25 years of technology and business experience, had served as chief technology officer and co-founder at several startups, and had years of experience trading stocks, options and foreign exchange. Public information cited in the report says he was born in Hong Kong and moved to Canada in childhood.

From early Bitcoin exposure to Tomb Finance and LIF3

Publicly available information cited by Foresight News says Yeh entered the Bitcoin market in 2013 when BTC was around $60 and launched his first fund with about $250,000. Early on, he conducted OTC trading, market making and related fund management through Binary Fintech Group.

The report describes 2021 as a turning point. In September of that year, Tomb Finance, an algorithmic stablecoin-style project deployed on Fantom and tied to tokens including TOMB, TSHARE and TBOND, had introduced a sell tax called Gatekeeper Tax to prevent whale withdrawals. Foresight News said that mechanism was later exploited through social engineering, triggering liquidation panic. Yeh then announced that he and his team would take over and published a detailed plan on Sept. 11.

According to the report, leverage and aggressive publicity later helped push Tomb Finance’s total value locked to a record $1.6 billion in January 2022. Its tokens are now close to worthless, and the project’s latest post on X dates to February 2025.

During the same period, Yeh was described as an important early supporter and promoter of the Fantom ecosystem. He repeatedly expressed bullish views on FTM in public and shared his views at related conferences.

Starting in 2022, he began pushing LIF3, which the report describes as an extension and revision of Tomb. The project emphasized accessibility and security and offered trading, yield farming, liquidity provision and derivatives. Yeh’s X account long carried references to LIF3, TOMB, FTM, TSHARE and L3USD.

Community views were divided

Foresight News said Yeh maintained a high-profile public image. While he did not post lavish lifestyle content on X, the report says his Instagram account frequently showed private jets and luxury yachts.

Sentiment around Yeh and the projects tied to him was divided. Some in the earlier stage viewed him as an OG figure who helped accelerate ecosystem growth, while later criticism focused on project sustainability and team transparency.

Report also cited other abnormal death cases in crypto

Foresight News also referenced several other cases involving abnormal deaths of figures tied to the crypto industry.

In 2025, Faruk Fatih Özer, founder of the now-defunct Turkish exchange Thodex, died in prison. His lawyer said he had recently isolated himself and refused to see family members, and an initial judicial assessment leaned toward suicide.

That same year, Konstantin Galish, also known as Kostya Kudo, was found shot dead in his car in Kyiv. Police mentioned suicidal tendencies and a farewell message, and the incident came after a sharp market decline.

In early 2026, a man in Hong Kong fell from his residence after losing about $1.2 million in crypto investments, and police classified the case as a fall from height.

Case remains in an early stage

In Yeh’s case, official findings and community speculation continue to coexist. Details at the scene — including the state of the body, the black plastic bag and the disordered apartment — have led to questions over whether the case can be explained as a simple accident or a simple suicide.

Still, no official characterization has been made. Until autopsy results and more evidence are released, the investigation remains at an early stage.
