The Shanghai headquarters of the People's Bank of China held its work conference for the second half of 2026, pledging to hold the bottom line of preventing systemic financial risks. Key tasks include stricter verification of bank institution ratings, closer monitoring of systemically important financial institutions, continued prevention and disposal of risks from virtual currency trading and speculation, as well as improvements to macro-prudential management and cross-border financial risk monitoring.

The Shanghai headquarters of the People's Bank of China (PBC) convened its 2026 H2 work conference, laying out priorities for the coming months, according to ChainCatcher. Officials said the central bank's Shanghai office will firmly hold the line against systemic financial risks, step up verification of bank institution ratings, and strengthen monitoring of systemically important financial institutions.

Virtual currencies were also on the agenda. The meeting called for continued prevention and disposal of risks stemming from virtual currency trading and speculation.

Other tasks set at the meeting include pushing institutions in the region to standardize online marketing of financial products, improving the mechanism for preventing and defusing systemic risks, intensifying the crackdown on illegal financial activities, refining the macro-prudential management framework, and comprehensively raising the level of cross-border financial risk monitoring.
