Peersyst said an initial proposal for the v11 upgrade of the XRPL EVM sidechain could reach testnet as early as this week, with a mainnet transition set to follow later. The sidechain first launched on mainnet in June 2025, and the network has seen incremental upgrades since then, including the integration of Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin into the ecosystem in June.
The company framed v11 as an infrastructure and security release, not a feature expansion. Its stated goal is to make the network more secure, more resilient, and easier to operate. Peersyst added that many of the changes may not be immediately visible to developers or end users, but said the release is meant to strengthen the network’s long-term stability.
Validator entry and exit rules are being tightened
According to Peersyst, version 11 introduces changes across validator management, cross-chain infrastructure, and internal security processes. The company called it a security-first update designed to improve economic security, reduce attack surface, and reinforce both the validator layer and the IBC layer.
The XRPL EVM sidechain uses a Proof of Authority consensus model, where joining the validator set depends on approval through an authorized mechanism rather than open staking. Under v11, the standard method of creating validators after network launch will be closed, effectively blocking any party outside that authorization path from joining the validator set.
The release also changes how validators leave the network. Once v11 is in place, validators will be able to exit on their own, without waiting for action from the authority. Peersyst said this should simplify operations and give validator management more flexibility.
v11 is the first release under the full AI-supported audit flow
Peersyst also disclosed that the XRPL EVM sidechain is now subject to regular security audits supported by AI. Version 11 will be the first release to fully go through that end-to-end audit process. The company said the aim is to make internal security checks more systematic and help identify potential vulnerabilities earlier in the release cycle.
In Peersyst’s description, v11 is a broad update package centered on economic security, attack-surface reduction, and stronger validator and IBC layers. IBC is the communication layer used by blockchains to transfer data and assets across networks.
Peersyst said the release reflects a long-term approach to maintaining the XRPL EVM sidechain. Direct user-facing changes may be limited at first, but the company expects the underlying adjustments to reinforce the network’s base over time.
