Pi Network's co-founders, Dr. Fan Chengdiao and Nicholas Kokkalis, are set to deliver keynote speeches at the 2026 Consensus Miami conference, one of the most prominent crypto industry gatherings. The event is scheduled for May 6-7, 2026.
Focus on Web3, AI and Blockchain Convergence
On May 6, Dr. Fan will address the session “The Practical Convergence of Web3, Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain,” examining how AI is reshaping digital product development and underscoring the importance of verified user interactions. The following day, May 7, Kokkalis will tackle the challenge of proving human identity in the AI era without compromising personal data privacy.
Protocol 23 Upgrade Imminent
Shortly after the speeches, Pi Network will activate a major protocol upgrade — Protocol 23 — on May 11. The upgrade, which includes smart contract functionality already deployed on testnet, is designed to support real-world commerce. Current network metrics show more than 16.5 million migrated users, over 17.7 million KYC-verified accounts, and a cumulative total of 526 million KYC verifications processed.
Opening KYC Infrastructure to Third Parties
Kokkalis indicated that Pi Network plans to offer its KYC verification infrastructure to other projects via an API, potentially lowering identity verification costs for the broader blockchain ecosystem and expanding Pi's utility.
Token Market Performance
As of writing, PI token trades at $0.18 with a market capitalization of approximately $1.86 billion, leading the mobile mining sector. However, community concerns persist regarding KYC processing speed and mainnet migration timelines, as reflected in ongoing social media discussions.
The Consensus appearance marks Pi Network's transition from a community-driven initiative to a more mainstream industry presence. With Protocol 23 approaching, market participants are watching closely for potential price catalysts and ecosystem adoption.
