Pi Network Coin (PI) hit $0.20 on Wednesday, February 18, recovering nearly 50% from its monthly low and lifting its market capitalization to over $1.68 billion. The rally stands out as Bitcoin hovers around $67,000 and the broader crypto market remains subdued.

Mainnet First Anniversary: Anticipation Builds

The project celebrates the first anniversary of its mainnet launch this Friday. Market participants expect developers to make a major announcement to mark the milestone. Such events often serve as a narrative catalyst for price action. PI flipped the Supertrend indicator from red to green for the first time since last October, signaling a possible trend shift.

Kraken Listing: Gateway to U.S. Investors

Kraken, a U.S.-based crypto exchange valued at over $20 billion, added PI to the chain section of its listing roadmap. While PI is already tradable on OKX, MEXC, and Gate, those platforms hold minimal U.S. market share. A Kraken listing would expose PI to American investors and potentially pave the way for listings on Binance and Coinbase. This expectation is driving much of the current demand.

Validator Rewards and Network Upgrade

The first validator reward distribution is scheduled for March. A key risk: many validators may sell their rewards, creating sell pressure. At the same time, the network is upgrading from Protocol 19 to Protocol 23 of the Stellar Consensus Protocol. Phase one began on Sunday and will continue for weeks. The upgrade is technically positive but its price impact remains to be seen.

Token Unlock Pace Declines

According to PiScan, monthly token unlocks will steadily decrease: 109 million PI in the remainder of February, 104 million in March, 86 million in April, and 78 million in May. Slower supply growth provides structural support for the price.

Technical Setup: Bullish Pennant

The 12-hour chart shows PI above both the 50-period and 100-period moving averages, forming a bullish pennant pattern. It currently sits at the 38.2% Fibonacci retracement level. If the uptrend continues, the next resistance is at $0.2055, aligning with the 50% Fibonacci level. A breakout above that could open room for further gains.
