PLabs, a privacy protocol project, has introduced pERC20, a new privacy token standard built for the Ethereum Virtual Machine and based on Zcash’s Orchard protocol. The project said the design is intended to make EVM a hub for privacy protocols. Under the standard, P20 serves as the native asset, with on-chain balances and transfer details hidden from public view. PLabs said P20 is designed for three core uses across the ecosystem: liquidity, fee settlement, and governance. ERC20 assets can enter the system through a Shield mechanism and become interoperable with P20, although P20 cannot currently be unshielded back into ERC20. The token has a fixed total supply of 1 billion, with distribution limited to a genesis airdrop and protocol incentives. There is no premine or private sale. Initial circulating supply from the airdrop is capped at 8% of total supply, while incentives account for the larger share. The default allocation is set at 80% for users and 20% for the team and ecosystem fund, with emissions released through periodic halvings.
PLabs has rolled out pERC20, a new privacy token standard for the Ethereum Virtual Machine, built on Zcash’s Orchard protocol. The project said the goal is to turn EVM into a “hub for privacy protocols.”
P20 is the native token issued under the standard. According to PLabs, P20 hides both balances and transfer details from public on-chain view. The token is meant to serve three functions inside the ecosystem: liquidity, fee settlement, and governance.
Conversion path and token distribution
PLabs said ERC20 assets can enter the system through a Shield mechanism and interoperate with P20. At this stage, however, P20 does not support Unshield back into ERC20.
P20 has a total supply of 1 billion tokens. Distribution is limited to a genesis airdrop and protocol incentives, with no premine and no private sale. The initial circulating amount from the airdrop is capped at 8% of total supply, while incentives make up the larger portion.
Under the default allocation, 80% is assigned to users and 20% to the team and ecosystem fund. Emissions will be released on a periodic halving schedule.
