Polygon Labs said it will shut down the Polygon zkEVM Mainnet Beta sequencer on July 1, 2026. Wallet balances should be bridged to Ethereum mainnet via ui.agglayer.dev before the deadline, while assets locked in DeFi contracts must be withdrawn and migrated by protocol teams and users.

ChainCatcher reported, citing official information, that Polygon Labs will take the Polygon zkEVM Mainnet Beta sequencer offline on July 1, 2026. The company said the timeline was first announced in June 2025, and the latest notice restates both the shutdown date and the procedures for handling assets before and after that date.

Sequencer shutdown set for July 1, 2026

According to the official reminder, users with on-chain wallet assets should bridge those assets to Ethereum mainnet through ui.agglayer.dev before July 1, 2026. This instruction applies to wallet balances on the chain, and users are asked to complete the bridging process ahead of the sequencer shutdown date.

For on-chain wallet balances that are not bridged in time, Polygon said the balances will be automatically migrated to Ethereum L1. After that migration, the assets can be claimed through a dedicated interface. The notice separates the user-initiated bridge process from the automatic migration path: users can bridge before the deadline, while unbridged wallet balances will be moved to Ethereum L1 and later claimed through the specified interface.

DeFi assets require manual withdrawal and migration

Polygon also emphasized that it does not control any DeFi protocol on zkEVM. As a result, assets locked inside DeFi contracts cannot be automatically migrated under the wallet-balance process. Protocol teams and users must actively withdraw and migrate liquidity before July 1, 2026, if those assets are held in DeFi contracts.

The announcement also sets a final treatment date for unclaimed assets that have gone through automatic migration. Any automatically migrated assets that remain unclaimed after December 31, 2027, will be deemed abandoned. The key points in the notice are the July 1, 2026 shutdown of the Polygon zkEVM Mainnet Beta sequencer, the ui.agglayer.dev bridge route to Ethereum mainnet, the automatic migration of unbridged wallet balances to Ethereum L1, the dedicated claim interface, and the separate requirement for DeFi positions to be withdrawn and migrated manually.
