Polymarket traders are betting on a 27% probability that Donald Trump will launch a new cryptocurrency by the end of 2026. The speculation gained traction after Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) confirmed the record date for its “Digital Token Initiative” in a press release, stating that shareholders as of that date are eligible to receive digital tokens tied to the Truth Social platform.

As reported via Benzinga syndication on Yahoo Finance, TMTG currently describes the tokens as “non-transferable” and not exchangeable for cash, meaning they “don’t yet meet Polymarket’s criteria for a tradable coin.” However, the move signals that TMTG “is integrating blockchain technology into its corporate structure,” shifting from a pure social media bet toward a more crypto-aligned strategy.

$802 Million Crypto Income and “Crypto Corruption” Claims

A Reuters analysis cited in the article estimates the Trump family amassed over $802 million from crypto operations in the first half of 2025 alone, with more than 90% of declared income now stemming from digital assets. Traditional businesses like golf courses contributed roughly $33 million, while real-estate licensing added about $23 million. The haul includes earlier NFT drops and the Official Trump (TRUMP) and Melania Meme (MELANIA) memecoins, which generated millions for the family despite subsequent volatility and controversy.

At a recent White House press conference, Trump distanced himself from a reported $500 million investment from the United Arab Emirates into World Liberty Financial, saying he “doesn’t know” about the deal and that his sons are “handling that.” Senator Elizabeth Warren has labeled the situation “crypto corruption,” warning of conflicts between Trump’s political role and his family’s digital-asset ventures.
