According to an investigative report by The Wall Street Journal, prediction market platform Polymarket has been accused of promoting its product on social media through paid creators who posted simulated trading videos and false profit displays. The report said some creators used mock websites that closely resembled Polymarket’s real site to film trading clips, while some of the large gains shown in those videos did not actually occur.

WSJ said certain promotional videos were submitted to Polymarket for review before publication. The report also stated that Polymarket managed influencer promotion campaigns through the marketing company Virality, with paid creators producing content around platform use, trading demonstrations and profit visuals designed for social media audiences.
The report placed the activity against the backdrop of Polymarket’s restricted service in the United States and its positioning toward international users. Even so, WSJ said the campaigns were accused of clearly reaching U.S. users. The article also said Polymarket maintained a multimillion-dollar promotional partnership with influencer Adin Ross to encourage user participation, bringing the platform’s marketing practices into the policy and regulatory discussion.
