August revenue rose across all three chip testing and packaging companies
Powertech Technology Inc. (PTI), King Yuan Electronics Co. (KYEC) and Sigurd Microelectronics all posted both monthly and annual revenue gains in August, according to ChainCatcher. PTI and Sigurd marked a second straight month of record-high revenue.
PTI reported consolidated August revenue of NT$8.558 billion, up 3.48% from the previous month and 24.46% from a year earlier. After topping NT$8 billion for the first time in July and setting a record then, the company set another high in August. Revenue for the first eight months reached NT$61.258 billion, up 30.83% year over year.
KYEC posted August revenue of NT$4.08 billion, up 2.23% month over month and 31.58% year over year. Its revenue for January through August came to NT$29.404 billion, up 35.53% from the same period last year.
Sigurd reported August revenue of NT$2.07 billion, up nearly 3% from July and nearly 29% from a year earlier. Revenue for the first eight months totaled NT$15.26 billion, up more than 20%.
PTI points to memory demand recovery and next-stage advanced packaging plans
PTI said the main source of growth this year remained the recovery in memory packaging and testing demand. The company had previously said third-quarter revenue was expected to rise by a single-digit percentage from the second quarter, and that fourth-quarter revenue could still come in above the third quarter. It also said momentum in memory orders could continue through year-end, with market conditions staying positive at the start of next year.
Beyond its core memory business, PTI said advanced packaging had become the next focus of its expansion plan. Its panel-level packaging has already been adopted by a U.S. client, and capacity at its P11 plant has been fully booked by that customer. The company plans to enter mass production of AI chips integrating ASIC and HBM by mid-2027.
KYEC and Sigurd expand AI-related testing capacity
KYEC said it has been actively expanding advanced testing capacity in recent years, with AI-related products becoming an important driver of operations. Demand for testing tied to AI GPUs, ASICs and high-performance computing chips remains its main growth source.
Sigurd said demand tied to AI and high-speed interconnect remained strong, including demand for high-performance computing chips such as CPUs, GPUs, ASICs and AI accelerators.
On capacity, Sigurd said a newly acquired plant site in Hukou, purchased in February, completed cleanroom construction and entered mass production in July. Current output has reached 40% of the facility's total capacity, and the plant is gradually taking on additional demand from overseas clients.
