Qubic said 1,404 wallets were hit by unauthorized transfers between Oct. 17 and Oct. 18, with about 2.94 trillion QU moved out, valued at roughly $1.3 million. The project said the incident was tied to predictable wallet seeds generated by older Apple devices and browsers, and that the issue has already been fixed in version 4.26.4. The unauthorized transfers took place from 23:42 to 1:26 the next day, after which validators halted transactions at tick 85,371,949. Qubic also said developers secured other at-risk funds before the attacker could move them. About 87.1% of the stolen QU remains on the paused Qubic network, while roughly 12.9% was sent to crypto exchange MEXC and frozen. Bitget has suspended QUBIC deposits and withdrawals. Whether victims will be compensated will be decided by Qubic’s Computor cluster, while QEARN staking was not affected.
