RDX Works, the company behind the Layer-1 smart contract platform Radix Network, announced a 15% workforce reduction on August 28. CEO Piers Ridyard communicated the decision via the project's official Telegram channel, citing the need to reduce overhead costs.
CEO Addresses Disruption Concerns
Ridyard stated that while core deliverables — including Flash Liquidity, MFA, and Cassandra — are unlikely to be affected, users may experience disruptions in familiar points of contact. He assured the community that he, Adam, and the remaining team would be available to handle outstanding matters and requested patience during the transition.
Community Backlash Over Radquest
Several community members questioned whether those responsible for the lackluster Radquest launch had been held accountable. Radquest, a mobile-ready Web3 gamified onboarding platform launched on July 30, was intended to provide an engaging educational experience. However, user Horteka suggested the layoffs might be a scapegoating effort to appease the community and reduce costs without fixing underlying structural issues. Horteka proposed cutting salaries or XRD allocations of decision-makers instead of terminating staff.
Impact on Roadmap and Token
RDX Works has not disclosed the specific roles affected or severance terms. The firm maintains that key milestones such as Flash Liquidity and MFA remain on schedule. Radix's native token XRD saw a slight price decline following the announcement, as market participants monitor the team's ability to retain talent and rebuild community trust.
