Another internet meme is making its way onto the blockchain. After Pepe and Doge found new life as non-fungible token collections, the long-running Wojak meme is now being turned into a dedicated NFT project. The team behind rarewojak.com says it will launch a Rare Wojak collection on the Solana blockchain, adding one of crypto culture’s most recognizable characters to the growing meme-NFT market.
From internet imageboard meme to NFT collection
Wojak emerged roughly 11 years ago on the now-defunct Krautchan imageboard and later spread widely across platforms such as 4chan. The meme became closely associated with the phrase “I know that feel bro”, which is why many users also refer to it as “Feels Guy.” Over time, several variants appeared, including NPC Wojak, Coomer, Doomer, and Soyjak, each taking on a distinct place in online subcultures.
Within crypto circles, Wojak has become especially familiar as a visual shorthand for retail investor emotion, loss, regret, and post-crash despair. That background gives the project a built-in cultural connection to the digital asset space, where meme identities often carry value beyond simple humor.
4,000 NFTs, 50-plus traits, and a Candy Machine mint
According to the project, the collection is scheduled to launch on October 1, 2021. The mint will use Solana’s Candy Machine framework for a 24-hour sale window, a model commonly used to support a more structured and fair onchain minting process.
The drop will feature 4,000 randomly generated vectorized Wojaks with more than 50 traits. In addition, the team says Legendary Video Wojaks will be released on a time-based schedule in the days after the main sale, giving the collection an additional rarity layer beyond the standard static set.
Project focuses on rebuilt artwork and preserved meme identity
On its website, the creators describe the collection as a tribute to “that feels guy,” explaining that the artwork has been painstakingly rebuilt as vectors to create sharper digital collectibles. While the visuals are technically newly remade, the team says it aimed to preserve as much of the original meme’s detail and charm as possible.
Before launch, the Rare Wojak team has been promoting the drop through its official X/Twitter account, @rare_wojak, as well as through Discord, where previews of selected pieces have already been shared. The release reflects a broader trend in which deeply rooted internet culture is being repackaged into blockchain-native collectible assets.
