RAVE, the token of Web3 music protocol RaveDAO, has staged a ferocious short squeeze as major coins stay flat. Data from CoinGlass shows RAVE surged over 250% in 24 hours, breaking through $10 to hit a new all-time high. Perpetual swap funding rates on Binance, OKX and Bybit all collapsed to -0.7% per 8-hour period, translating to annualized rates between -2700% and -7000% — the deepest negative rates across all exchanges. Shorts holding RAVE perpetuals pay roughly 0.7% of position value every hour to longs.

Why funding rate mechanics punished bears

Perpetual contracts use funding rates to track spot prices. Deep negative rates indicate extreme crowding on the short side, subsidizing longs. As RAVE continued climbing, shorts paid high fees while suffering mark-to-market losses. Total liquidations in the past 24 hours reached $37.3 million, with $31.1 million (83%) coming from shorts. Binance was the epicenter of the squeeze.

RaveDAO is not a meme coin — it has real operations

Many dismissed RAVE as another pump-and-dump meme token, but the project claims otherwise. RaveDAO is a Web3 music entertainment protocol that started from a 200-person afterparty in 2023. It licenses its model similar to TEDx, replicating electronic music festivals globally. Average attendance now exceeds 3,000 per event. Partners include top DJs like Vintage Culture, Don Diablo, and Chris Avantgarde, backed by Binance, OKX, Bitget and the Polygon ecosystem.

Tokenomics: RAVE is an ERC-20 dual-function token with a total supply of 1 billion, only 24% currently circulating. The protocol implements a buyback-and-burn mechanism using event profits, plus donates 20% of event revenue to charity. Low circulating supply means small buying pressure can trigger massive price swings.

Weekly gain of 3,500%, OI peaks near $250M

RAVE was trading around $0.20 in early April before launching a violent rally. The weekly gain stands at roughly 3,500%. Open interest on perpetuals peaked near $250 million — an extraordinary level for a niche protocol token. Heavy concentration of positions amplifies volatility. Investors are urged to stay cautious.
