REAL (Real Estate Asset Ledger), a real estate crowdfunding company based in Singapore, has officially launched its token sale, enabling cryptocurrency holders to invest in global real estate properties using Ether (ETH). The project aims to disrupt the traditional real estate industry by leveraging Ethereum smart contracts, eliminating intermediaries, improving transparency and liquidity, lowering entry barriers, and alleviating cross-border tax complexities.
Platform Overview
The REAL platform utilizes Ethereum smart contracts to issue ERC-20 tokens (REAL). Users can exchange REAL tokens for economic rights to specific properties—called REAL Property Participation (RPP)—and receive rental income and value appreciation paid out in ETH. A dedicated website and mobile application allow users to browse and invest in properties curated by the REAL team. RPPs are tradable and transferable on the platform.
The platform charges a 10% fee on all profits. For example, if a property generates 1,000 ETH in rental income, REAL will take 100 ETH as commission for property listing and hosting services.
Token Sale Details
The token sale consists of two phases: a pre-sale and a public crowdsale. The pre-sale begins on August 24, 2017, lasting 24 hours, and is open only to contributions exceeding 100 ETH. The pre-sale has a hard cap of 100,000 ETH. The public crowdsale runs from August 14, 2017 at 7:00 PM UTC to August 31, 2017 at 7:00 PM UTC. The soft cap is set at 200,000 ETH; if reached, the crowdsale will close within 36 hours. The hard cap is 400,000 ETH, with a total token supply of 100,000,000 REAL tokens allocated across both phases.
REAL tokens will be distributed within seven days after the crowdsale ends via a smart contract. The team has invested $350,000 of their own funds into the project and has previously founded and sold multiple startups.
