Reality, the compliant RWA issuance platform under Bitget, announced on June 1 a strategic partnership with Alpaca, a US-registered broker-dealer and self-clearing firm. The collaboration brings traditional brokerage infrastructure into the tokenized asset ecosystem, enabling Reality to offer regulated clearing, custody, and trade execution services for tokenized US stocks and ETFs to global users. This move directly addresses the weak underlying infrastructure that has long hindered blockchain-based securities tokens, significantly improving asset safety and regulatory transparency.
Under the agreement, Alpaca will provide a full suite of middle- and back-office brokerage support. Specifically, Alpaca’s wholly owned subsidiary Alpaca Clearing—a FINRA-registered broker-dealer and SIPC member—will handle segregated custody and central clearing of the underlying physical assets corresponding to tokenized stocks and ETFs. SIPC membership means that securities in client accounts are protected up to $500,000, offering on-chain holders a safety layer equivalent to holding traditional securities. Trade execution will also be handled by Alpaca, with orders placed on Reality routed through Alpaca’s infrastructure to regulated markets.
Alpaca: A Developer-First Brokerage Infrastructure Company
Founded in 2015, Alpaca is a developer-first brokerage infrastructure firm whose API-driven trading and clearing systems are used widely by fintech platforms and crypto-native projects. Alpaca Clearing operates under FINRA licensing and SEC regulatory oversight, allowing tokenized stock and ETF products issued through Reality to fit within the legal framework of traditional securities markets. In this partnership, Alpaca helps lower the barriers for entities to directly hold and clear US equity assets while sparing Reality the complex process of obtaining its own broker-dealer license.
Infrastructure Completeness for Tokenized Stocks and ETFs and Strategic Alignment
Bitget CEO Gracy Chen emphasized in a statement that Reality is a critical piece of the Bitget UEX panoramic exchange strategy, aimed at connecting traditional financial assets with on-chain infrastructure in a pragmatic way. She noted that the partnership marks a significant step in building compliant tokenized product infrastructure, and the platform will focus on offering regulated access only to eligible users, avoiding the compliance risks of unregulated expansion.
Alpaca Co-founder and CEO Yoshi Yokokawa added that the partnership will jointly drive the development of tokenized stock infrastructure and further enhance the accessibility of global financial services. He believes that integrating compliant brokerage capabilities into RWA protocols can narrow the gap between traditional finance and the decentralized economy, providing more investors with transparent, low-barrier access to assets. This collaboration not only fills a missing compliance piece in Reality’s on-chain securities tokenization chain but also offers the industry a real-world example of how RWA platforms and licensed financial institutions can work together.
