Robert Kiyosaki, the bestselling author of Rich Dad Poor Dad, has made a striking prediction: Bitcoin will surge to $1.2 million within the next five years. The famed investor and author, known for accurately forecasting Bitcoin's climb to $50,000 in 2021, shared his latest forecast during an interview with Kitco News in April 2021.
Kiyosaki's Bitcoin Entry: $9,000, and He May Buy More
Kiyosaki revealed that he purchased Bitcoin at $9,000, admitting he felt “fleeced” at the time. “I bought it at $9,000 because Covid shut down the world economy,” he said. “I wish I bought it at 10 cents like a lot of people did.” However, with Bitcoin trading near $60,000 at the time of the interview, Kiyosaki joked that he now looks like a genius. He further stated that he might buy Bitcoin again “today or tomorrow” simply because he is more bullish on it.
Why Kiyosaki Is Bullish: Government Printing and Dollar Devaluation
Kiyosaki attributes the appeal of Bitcoin and gold to excessive government stimulus, money printing, and the devaluation of the U.S. dollar. “When a guy like me gets my hand on Bitcoin, I’ll never spend it,” he declared, referencing Gresham’s Law that bad money drives out good money. As a real estate investor, he noted that he would borrow against his assets rather than sell his Bitcoin or gold when needing cash, similar to former President Donald Trump's approach.
Government Intervention? Kiyosaki Says 'Problem Too Big'
When asked if authorities might crack down on cryptocurrency, possibly outlawing Bitcoin, Kiyosaki acknowledged that governments “will try” but argued the “problem is too big.” He pointed to collapsing pension funds, stimulus spending, and the need for $1.9 trillion in additional printing. Despite his bullishness on Bitcoin, Kiyosaki admitted he prefers gold and silver, calling them “God’s money.” “Bitcoin is still untested,” he said, “but I have the wherewithal to withstand the hit if it goes down.” He clarified that he is not religious but simply sees gold and silver as naturally placed by God.
Criticism of Fed and Biden: 'Communist Gang'
Kiyosaki did not hold back his criticism of the Biden administration and central bankers, labeling Bernanke, Yellen, and Powell as “communists” who only print money. “I’m not bullish on gold over bitcoin,” he clarified. “I’m just bearish on Biden and his communist gang. That’s what I don’t like.” He accused the academic elite of running the economy into the ground.
Kiyosaki's prediction of $1.2 million per Bitcoin by 2026 implies a roughly 20x increase from its $60,000 level at the time of the interview. While the forecast sounds extreme, his prior track record of correctly calling Bitcoin's 2021 rally lends weight to his views among cryptocurrency enthusiasts.
