SBI VC Trade, the crypto subsidiary of SBI Holdings, has taken charge of the Solana treasury operations of Tokyo-listed WIZE. Under the arrangement, SBI VC Trade will manage trading, custody, storage, and treasury functions for the SOL held as part of WIZE’s corporate treasury strategy, putting the firm at the center of WIZE’s long-term plan around Solana.

The work will run through SBIVC for Prime, SBI VC Trade’s institutional platform. The company said the platform offers cryptocurrency trading, asset management, treasury management, and Web3 support for large-scale clients. For WIZE, that means using the platform to execute transactions and custody its Solana holdings. The operational scope is straightforward: acquire, store, and manage the assets.

WIZE built a treasury plan around SOL in 2025

WIZE launched its Solana Treasury Business in 2025, making SOL a key part of its balance-sheet strategy. The company had previously said digital assets could eventually complement its existing social entertainment and media operations. With SBI VC Trade now in place, the day-to-day execution side of that treasury plan moves to a regulated outside provider.

According to details released by SBI VC Trade, WIZE reviewed multiple service providers before making its choice. The main criteria were regulatory compliance, operational security, and the ability to support institutional digital asset activity. SBI VC Trade is registered to provide crypto-related services in Japan and operates within the country’s regulatory framework for digital asset businesses, which appears to have been a key factor in the selection.

SBI adds another institutional client

For SBI VC Trade, the agreement expands its institutional digital asset business with another corporate customer. The company said SBIVC for Prime is built for corporate and institutional users looking for trading, custody, and asset management solutions. SBI Holdings also has a long-running relationship with Ripple through investments and business partnerships, a detail that keeps attention on its broader role in crypto infrastructure.

Institutional activity around Solana keeps building

The partnership comes as institutional engagement with Solana continues to pick up. A few weeks before the WIZE announcement, Morgan Stanley resubmitted an application in the U.S. for a spot Solana ETF. The filing said the fund, if approved, would trade under the ticker MSOL, hold SOL directly, and stake a portion of the assets to generate yield. It would be listed on NYSE Arca, subject to approval by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

The SBI-WIZE deal lands at a time when asset managers, treasury-focused firms, and financial institutions are still expanding their Solana-related products and investment strategies. Outside Solana, SBI Holdings recently moved into artificial intelligence through a partnership with Anthropic. SBI said the collaboration would bring Anthropic’s Claude AI technology into company operations, following Anthropic’s confidential IPO filing earlier this year.
