Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has once again reaffirmed that XRP sits at the very heart of Ripple’s long-term strategy, declaring on social media platform X that the 'XRP family has and always will be top of mind for Ripple.'
On Feb. 9, responding to remarks questioning the company’s commitment to XRP as a bridge asset, Garlinghouse wrote: 'Glad to see the message is (finally, even more) clear! XRP family has and always will be top of mind for Ripple.' The statement came as institutional decentralized finance (DeFi) activity on the XRP Ledger continued to expand, with some observers questioning whether Ripple’s product diversification might dilute XRP’s role. Garlinghouse’s response underscored that recent developments represent delivery on long-standing objectives rather than a strategic pivot.
XRP Sits at the Center of Everything Ripple Does
This is not the first time Garlinghouse has made such a strong assertion. In October last year, he emphasized XRP’s strategic importance: 'As we continue to build solutions towards enabling an Internet of Value – I’m reminding you all that XRP sits at the center of everything Ripple does. Lock in.' The CEO’s latest remarks align with XRP Community Day, held Feb. 11-12, 2026, across three regional X Spaces. The event focused on the XRP Ledger’s role in Ripple’s institutional strategy, including discussions around integrating XRP into regulated products such as spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs). Developers and holders are also examining technical milestones, including expansion of native lending protocols, growing interoperability with other major blockchain networks, and the shift from experimental utility toward large-scale financial infrastructure.
Reece Merrick, Ripple’s managing director for the Middle East and Africa, echoed the sentiment on X: 'XRP will continue to be at the heart of the Ripple vision.' His statement aligns with Ripple’s Institutional DeFi framework published last week, which details how XRP underpins payments, liquidity, collateral, and on-ledger credit markets. The framework outlines XRP’s role in real-time settlement, transaction fee burns, reserve requirements, and auto-bridging across FX, stablecoins, and tokenized assets.
Institutional DeFi Framework Reinforces XRP’s Settlement Asset Status
According to the Institutional DeFi framework, XRP serves as the backbone of scalable, regulated on-chain finance. It functions not only as a payment settlement asset but also as a source of liquidity, collateral, and a medium for cross-chain auto-bridging. This structural design strengthens XRP’s long-term value proposition, especially as institutional adoption accelerates.
Market analysts note that the consecutive statements from Ripple executives, combined with the XRP Community Day, have contributed to rising bullish sentiment around XRP. Recent whale wallet accumulation and surging network activity are also viewed as signals of a potential price reversal. However, investors should monitor whether XRP can truly achieve large-scale institutional adoption once regulatory frameworks are further clarified.
