Ripple is widening its long-running payments partnership with Bitso by bringing MXNB, Bitso’s Mexican peso-backed stablecoin, onto the XRP Ledger. According to the official release, the token will be issued on XRPL and integrated into Ripple’s Payments on Decentralized Exchange infrastructure to support enterprise settlement across the U.S.-Mexico corridor.
MXNB Added to XRPL’s Permissioned DEX
MXNB will also operate inside XRPL’s Permissioned DEX environment alongside Ripple USD (RLUSD), adding another source of liquidity for institutional payment flows. Ripple said the setup is intended to improve liquidity management and transaction settlement for businesses moving funds between the United States and Mexico, while introducing peso-denominated liquidity into a regulated onchain framework built for financial institutions.
The Permissioned DEX is designed for verified counterparties that need compliant access to onchain liquidity and settlement services. That detail matters. It means institutions can tap digital asset infrastructure while keeping operational controls and regulatory standards in place.
Years of Regional Payments Work Move Into Stablecoin Settlement
The move extends a relationship that Ripple and Bitso have built over years across Latin America. The two companies have already supported payment infrastructure in major regional corridors, including Mexico and Colombia, and are now pushing that work into stablecoin-based settlement aimed at enterprise users.
Ripple Managing Director for Latin America Silvio Pegado said MXNB strengthens regulated liquidity infrastructure for cross-border payments involving both U.S. dollars and Mexican pesos. He also said Ripple and Bitso have spent years developing payment networks able to handle large transaction volumes across Latin America, and are now extending those capabilities through settlement rails built around stablecoins for institutional participants.
Bitso Broadens MXNB Utility in the U.S.-Mexico Corridor
Bitso Business Head of Stablecoins Ben Reid said MXNB was built specifically for enterprise settlement needs. In his view, the integration brings peso-based liquidity to institutional counterparties that require compliance certainty and efficient settlement processes. The partnership also fits Ripple’s wider push to link traditional payment systems with blockchain-based liquidity.
Bitso has already been part of Ripple’s stablecoin strategy through its support for RLUSD, serving as one of the early exchange partners for Ripple’s dollar-backed stablecoin. With MXNB now entering XRPL’s settlement infrastructure, the companies are extending regulated liquidity options across one of the world’s busiest remittance and payments corridors, while giving enterprise users direct access to locally backed peso liquidity onchain.
